"I was lucky enough to be born in a town where there was tons of dinner theater, community theater and children's theater in the vicinity of Baltimore and Annapolis. I was always on stage in this and that from a tender age."

Matthew started formally studying theater at the Baltimore School for the Arts where he studied with Donald Hicken, a 2015 finalist for the Tonys Awards theater education honor. From there he went on to Boston University, The Boston Conservatory and Emerson College where he received a BFA in theater and had the opportunity to train for two years with world renown voice teacher and author, Kristin Linklater.

Favorite roles include Malvolio in Twelfth Night, Tom Snout (the Wall) in A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Emcee in Cabaret and Captain Hook in Peter Pan.

He recently developed a one man show utilizing the text of Walt Whitman's poetry.  Song Of Myself - The Words of Walt Whitman is a one act celebration of America's greatest poet.

He is currently studying privately with Rhona Silverbush, co-author of Speak the Speech!: Shakespeare's Monologues Illuminated.

Matthew also recently returned from living for two years in Bangkok, Thailand where he taught English as a Second Language and in 2006 traveled to Tanzania where he helped build Peace House Academy, a secondary school for orphans of the AIDS pandemic in that region.

As a youth in Baltimore, Matthew appeared in many productions including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Camelot, Evita ( twice ), A Christmas Carol, Hello Dolly (twice ) How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying and Barnum. His Favorite roles included Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, The Senator in Lysistrata, Robert Conklin in The Rimers of Eldritch. In college he had the great fortune to appear as The Emcee in Cabaret at the Emerson Majestic Theater and Russell Paxton in Lady in The Dark where he had the opportunity to perform the patter song - Tchaikovsky. (Which he still knows.)
